Yahoo! News - CBS Fires Producer Who Broke Into 'CSI'
By DAVID BAUDER, AP Television Writer

NEW YORK - CBS News has fired the producer responsible for breaking into "CSI: NY" last week for a special report on Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat (news - web sites)'s death, a CBS executive said Monday, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Never let actual news of the death of a world leader get in the way of your entertainment. If you had any illusions that the news was anything other than a tabloid farce in this country those illusions are now toast.

We wouldn't want to stop watching crap on TV just to be told that some brown guy kicked the bucket now would we? Just a few questions. Aren't the TV airwaves owned by us? We the people? Don't we lend them to broadcasters like CBS to use provided they serve the public good? I guess the public doesn't want to be informed about events that might affect the current international political situation. I mean screw that! Dr. Vegas is on!

CBS. "keeping you mercifly free of the ravages of intelligence."

Yea I heard about that one and could scarcely believe it. Why on earth would someone get fired for breaking in with a news story? It... well, I was going to say it doesn't make any sense but actually, it kinda does. We do live in America, after all...

The purpose of the media in terms of today's politics is merely to tout the typical rehtoric of the state. Sounds to me like this reporter steped on someone's toes. Keeping the population ignorant is what the media does best, there is no way to gain an understanding of the rest of the world through the mainstream American media. The elites won't allow it.

True, Cheesus. It is still funny to think, however that we here in the USA have still got the least politically motivated press there is. I mean in every other western country in the world there is an implication of bias in reporting at every level. The papers are run to present a political point of view. (this is especially true in Britain) In their defense the "World" newspaper and media organizations expect people to interinsically know that they are getting biased information. They actually count on the masses having intelligence. Not so here.

It is truly disheartening to think that in the bastion of the "objective media" we are the ones being most pandered to. But there it is.
