I 'm getting a headache...

This might just be the dumbest thing I have ever heard of and you can of course bet that it's our gub'mint that set it up. You see, it seems that there are 36 highly trained.. Wait for it.. Dolphins...With... Really I'm not making this up.... Lethal poison dart guns, on the loose in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina.

Seriously.

This is the kind of thing that can only happen when defense beauracracy gets too big for oversight.

36 Armed and dangerous Dolphins... How do you make anybody believe this? I mean, really, who would believe it.

Yeah... That about says it all.

Though I don't live anywhere near Brooklyn NY, I still think this sign is a great idea!

Take a look.

Necrophilia

I'm not a squeamish guy but this article Takes the topper. It seems that there is a practise among US troops in combat to email photos of grizzly death scenes in Iraq and Afghanistan to a hardcore porn site in exchange for access to the more standard porn. Shit. I have no words.

sick.

The hits keep coming!

Just when I thought there was no more good news to report it seems that the US Minister of Propaganda and Bush family mouthpiece Karen Hughes Has been getting her ass handed to her in the middle east. The venues have been carefully selected audiences for discussing womens issues in the "New Mid-East." Apparently they are not buying it.

6 out of 8 of those chosen to ask questions at the event in Istanbul blasted her about the US war in Iraq. Her's an example:

"This war is really, really bringing your positive efforts to the level of zero"

Ouch!

Look for a lot more selective screening of the audiences in the future. The GOP can't let the truth get in the way of thier image of a shiny happy puppy filled middle east. That might mean they were wrong to go to war for a lie. We can't let that happen now can we?

Can't. Help. Myself. Must. Pile. On.......

As you have no doubt heard by now Tom DeLay has been indicted in Texas. I just want to say that it couldn't have happened to a nastier guy. I mean that from the bottom of my heart. I have no illusions that he will be convicted of anything. He can, after all, buy anyone he needs to keep him out of jail, but it is still nice to see.

Imagine all that is happening right now in the "party of personal responsibility." Let's see....

Theres Delay being indicted here....

Then there's Bill Frist's SEC Inquiry... And what else...

Oh yeah! There's Karl Roves little thing with the CIA officer not to mention the extra attention that he's getting from the multiple and massive investigations into Uber Lobbyist and slush fund manager Jack Abramoff Who can take this thing full circle all by himself by linking back to... Wait for it.....

Tom DeLay.

Have I told you what a beautiful day it's turning out to be?

Jesus God! Wouldn't you just know it?!

Well I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. You see, it seems that the disgraced political appointee that basically allowed New Orleans to be destroyed, Michael Brown, has remained on the payroll of the federal government despite having resigned his post. In what can only be described as a blatant sham resignation for wholly political cover, Brown quit only to be backdoored as a "consultant" to find out what went wrong in the Katrina debacle. WTF?! Here's a hint Mike.... It was YOU. You doing nothing for all that time that doomed that city.

I don't want to pay him to keep screwing things up and then telling us how he did it. I mean come ON!

Write to your congressmen and senators. Call them on the phone. Outrage must be shown.

You go, Girl 2

Cindy Sheehan is at it again. This time arrested in from of the White House.

I think the part I liked best was the crowd chanting, "The whole world is watching..." Brilliant!

Also there's this:

Sheehan's arrest came after a massive antiwar demonstration Saturday in Washington which drew more than 100,000 people -- the largest such demonstration since the Iraq war began in spring 2003. A demonstration supporting the war drew roughly 500 people Sunday.

Hee Hee!

You Go Girl!

Cindy Sheehan

is getting a bit of attention and deservedly so. I am happy to see her responding to the Rovians.

Take a peek.

Deja-Vu all over again

New Orleans Levee Yields Again

Looks like the rain from Hurricane Rita have been enough to wash out some of the repairs of the levees in NOLA today. The storm hasn't even gotted up to it's full strength yet.

It looks like the poor folks down there are in for even more hardship. This is going to require a long term amount of assistance.

I'll never think of a "dance off" the same way again...

CBS News | Dance-Off Erupts Into Street Brawl | September 21, 2005 12:22:33

The headline explains it all....

To I have to come over there and "Unleash Chang!?"

Tuesday, September 20, 2005

I'm only pulling your Chang...

Wonkette - jeb bush

Jeb Bush, at a ceremony naming Marco Rubio Florida House Speaker:
''I rely on Chang with great regularity in my public life. He has been by my side and sometimes I let him down. But Chang, this mystical warrior, has never let me down.''

Bush then unsheathed a golden sword and gave it to Rubio as a gift.

But wait there's more!

"Faced with a stalemate, then governor apparently 'unleashes Chang.'"

Hoo Boy! I'm soooooo taking that one. read the rest of Wonkettes fabulous snark. This ones totally worth it.

Hang on I gotta go and unleash Chang...

Geeking out with the hurricanes

So there was a time when I was very into "Magic:The Gathering" and played at every lunchtime with many of my friends.

Before you go all "hey fanboy!" it might help to know that I was employed by Wizards of the coast while I was in college and they gave me all of the cards etc. (This makes me only a little less of a total geek but it does put things in perspective...

Anyway I have been trapsing around at this site here, and have found a lot of funny cards looking a lot like Magic cards with funny titles and images popping up from time to time.

Turns out there's actually a game with all of it's own cards that can be accessed from the link at the top of this post. Great way to pass the time while you are waiting for the next global warming induces hurricane to strike.

The creators seem to take pot shots at everyone. Poor taste? you be the judge.

Have fun.

To anyone who actually takes the time to read this drivel:

I have made some small modifications in the way some things work around here. You will now find that you can post comments even if you are not registered with Blogger®. I hope that this will encourage more folks to commment. I am always very interested in what others have to say. Do be warned however that Trolling will get the old registration turned back on.

I hope that there are actually people reading all of this. If I get any response it will give me incentive to post more often.

Oh dear god....

Daily Kos: Donated British food to be incinerated

US red tape is stopping it from reaching hungry evacuees.

Instead tons of the badly needed Nato ration packs, the same as those eaten by British troops in Iraq, has been condemned as unfit for human consumption.

And unless the bureaucratic mess is cleared up soon it could be sent for incineration.

One British aid worker last night called the move "sickening senselessness" and said furious colleagues were "spitting blood".

The food, which cost British taxpayers millions, is sitting idle in a huge warehouse after the Food and Drug Agency recalled it when it had already left to be distributed.

Scores of lorries headed back to a warehouse in Little Rock, Arkansas, to dump it at an FDA incineration plant.

Oy vey...

More like this please!

Clinton launches withering attack on Bush on Iraq, Katrina, budget

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Former US president Bill Clinton sharply criticised George W. Bush for the Iraq War and the handling of Hurricane

Breaking with tradition under which US presidents mute criticisms of their successors, Clinton said the Bush administration had decided to invade Iraq "virtually alone and before UN inspections were completed, with no real urgency, no evidence that there were weapons of mass destruction."

The Iraq war diverted US attention from the war on terrorism "and undermined the support that we might have had," Bush said in an interview with an ABC's "This Week" programme.

Finally Bubba wades back in. We need more of him in this fight.

Power-dressing Aussie leaves trail of destruction - Yahoo! News

Talk about your clothing disasters!

SYDNEY (Reuters) - An Australian man built up a 40,000-volt charge of static electricity in his clothes as he walked, leaving a trail of scorched carpet and molten plastic and forcing firefighters to evacuate a building.

Frank Clewer, who was wearing a woollen shirt and a synthetic nylon jacket, was oblivious to the growing electrical current that was building up as his clothes rubbed together.

When he walked into a building in the country town of Warrnambool in the southern state of Victoria on Thursday, the electrical charge ignited the carpet.

I should have stayed on vacation.

SO I have returned from my family vacation on Maui to watch the deep south plunge into chaos and hellish calamity. I cannot express my deep and heartfelt sadness for the victime and their families. I haven't been able to do much more than just read and dissect all of the increasingly horrifying images and accounts coming from the affected towns and cities.

Still it gets worse:

By ADAM NOSSITER, Associated Press Writer

NEW ORLEANS - Storm victims were raped and beaten, fights and fires broke out, corpses lay out in the open, and rescue helicopters and law enforcement officers were shot at as flooded-out New Orleans descended into anarchy Thursday. "This is a desperate SOS," the mayor said.

Anger mounted across the ruined city, with thousands of storm victims increasingly hungry, desperate and tired of waiting for buses to take them out.

"We are out here like pure animals. We don't have help," the Rev. Issac Clark, 68, said outside the New Orleans Convention Center, where corpses lay in the open and the and other evacuees complained that they were dropped off and given nothing — no food, no water, no medicine.

About 15,000 to 20,000 people who had taken shelter at the convention center to await buses grew increasingly hostile. Police Chief Eddie Compass said he sent in 88 officers to quell the situation at the building, but they were quickly beaten back by an angry mob.

"We have individuals who are getting raped, we have individuals who are getting beaten," Compass said. "Tourists are walking in that direction and they are getting preyed upon."

Seems like things in New Orleans are going form bad to worse. It has been reported that the military has been unable to land with supplies at the convention center due to the helicopters being rushed by an unruly mob on the ground. They have had to resort to dropping the food and water in tiny quantities from a hover about ten feet above the crowd. The descriptions of events in the last few hours is truly horrifying. I am running out of things to say.

We need some leadership there. I wish I could say that I had any confidence whatsoever that our government was going to be able to help. They have systematically lost control of the situation. Things might be at atipping point. this says it all:

"Hospitals are trying to evacuate," said Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Cheri Ben-Iesan, spokesman at the city emergency operations center. "At every one of them, there are reports that as the helicopters come in people are shooting at them. There are people just taking potshots at police and at helicopters, telling them, `You better come get my family.'"

How much longer do you suppose we have before the first full scale riots break out in the flood ravaged cities and towns of the destruction zone?

I'm very afraid for my country at this moment. This goes far beyond the political leanings that I might have but you can bet your ass that I wil be holding some people responsible for whatever happens.
